The JCC Second Punic War recreates one of the most legendary and consequential conflicts of the ancient world, pitting the Roman Republic against the Carthaginian Empire in a struggle for control over the western Mediterranean. Delegates will be split into two cabinets, one side forming the Roman Senate and Command, and the other Carthaginian Council and Command. This committee begins in the spring of 218 BCE, just after Hannibal Barca’s siege of Saguntum has triggered a declaration of war from Rome. As the conflict unfolds, delegates will balance military strategy, diplomacy, and internal politics while navigating alliances, mutinies, tribal revolts, and the pressures of total war.

Each side must manage alliances, direct military campaigns, and influence neutral powers like the Gauls and Numidians. Strategy, negotiation, and swift decision-making will shape the outcome of one of history’s greatest wars. Will Hannibal bring Rome to its knees, or will Scipio carry the war to the gates of Carthage?
